Terms and Conditions: Kinship in American Studies 2026
1. Scope of Agreement
These Terms and Conditions apply to all participants (speakers and attendees) of the conference “Kinship in American Studies,” held from May 28–30, 2026, at the Englisches Seminar, University of Münster. By registering for the conference, you agree to comply with these terms.
2. Registration and Payment

Confirmation: Registration is only deemed complete upon receipt of the full registration fee (if applicable) and an official confirmation email from the organizing committee.

Accuracy: Participants are responsible for providing accurate contact and billing information.
3. Cancellation and Refund Policy

Cancellations must be submitted in writing to kinship2026@uni-muenster.de.

Before April 15, 2026: Full refund (minus a handling fee).

After April 15, 2026: No refunds will be issued due to fixed catering and venue costs.
4. Event Cancellation or Postponement
The organizers reserve the right to cancel or postpone the conference due to "Force Majeure" (e.g., natural disasters, strikes, or health emergencies). In the event of a full cancellation by the University, registration fees will be refunded; however, the organizers are not liable for travel or accommodation costs incurred by participants.
5. Intellectual Property and Recording

Copyright: The intellectual property of all presentations remains with the respective presenters.

Media Capture: Please be aware that no photography, audio, and video recording will take place during the event.
6. Liability
The University of Münster and the Chair of American Studies act as organizers and cannot be held liable for personal injury, or loss/damage to personal property during the conference, unless caused by gross negligence or willful misconduct by the organizers. Participants are advised to arrange their own travel and health insurance.
7. Data Protection (GDPR / DSGVO)
In accordance with European data protection laws:

Your data is collected solely for the organization of this conference.

Your name and affiliation may appear in the printed program and on participant lists shared with other attendees.

Your data will not be shared with third parties for commercial purposes.
8. Code of Conduct
We are committed to providing a respectful, inclusive, and harassment-free environment for all scholars. Disruption of presentations or inappropriate behavior toward staff or fellow participants will not be tolerated and may lead to removal from the event without a refund.
