Welcome
We are pleased to announce our
2-Day Buckling Colloquium
14th and 15th February 2024
at BAM, Unter den Eichen 87, 12205 Berlin
In February 2024, BAM will be hosting a 2-day colloquium; inviting international experts and guest speakers to Berlin to discuss the ‘Buckling of Offshore Wind Energy Structures’.
The integrity and longevity of monopiles is an essential component of an offshore wind farm and as turbines increase in size, understanding the behaviour of the monopile structures is critical.
BAM is engaged in a number of research projects investigating the buckling of mostly cylindrical structures and in February 2024 we will be holding a 2-day colloquium to discuss matters relating to the buckling of offshore structures.
Industrialised production of turbine towers and foundations with ever-increasing dimensions means that the design checks and verification for buckling limits of the shell structures become more important, with special relevance of the design optimisation. Here, both stability verifications and the strength verification of the structure in the installation phase play an important role.
The colloquium is part of the regular BAM Workshop series on Offshore Wind and at the same time final colloquium of the CT OWA VERBATIM project on the Verification on buckling of large monopiles (VERBATIM). The project funding of BMWK/PTJ and additionally support by the Carbon Trust Offshore Wind Accelerator is gratefully acknowledged.

We are looking forward to a colloquium in presence.
The colloquium is held in English.
