Data protection information regarding Converia event software
The protection of your personal data is a high priority for the Helmholtz-Zentrum für Umweltforschung GmbH – UFZ. Users wishing to register for a UFZ meeting or to submit a contribution via the Converia event software are required to open a user account.
The UFZ protects the privacy of any person wishing to open such a user account. We comply with the relevant data protection laws and would like to explain in full the treatment of your personal data by providing the following data protection information
In order to improve the quality of our web pages, we store data about each individual access to our pages for statistical purposes. This data record comprises:
the shortened IP address of the inquiring computer
date and time of access
name and time of the file retrieved
data volume transmitted
message if retrieval was successful
ID data of the browser used and
of the operating system of the page from where the file was called
These data are stored in anonymized form pursuant to the Telemedia Act (TMG). Hence the preparation of personal user profiles is impossible.
If you open a user account, we store the following of your data for documentation and invoicing purposes and in order to enable you to attend the event:
contact data, i.e. name, address, institution, e-mail address etc.,
user name and password.
You can enter further information in your user account, e.g. phone number, fax number or title on a voluntary basis.
In case you selected “credit card” as the method of payment, you leave the UFZ’s web page and will be redirected right to the service provider “Computop” which is in charge of handling your credit card payment.
As provided by applicable law the UFZ may also pass on data to bodies defined by law (e.g. public authorities, courts) Please take note that the registration for a meeting as a rule results in your name, institution and country becoming visible in your respective user account (password-protected area) for all other registered participants in the specific conference – as required for a conference-related list of participants.
In order to protect your data against unwanted access we use a coding procedure on some of our pages. Your data are then transmitted from your computer to our server and vice versa via the internet using a 128 bit SSL coding (Secure Socket Layer). You know this by the address line in the status bar of your browser starting https://.
As a user you have the right to demand information about what personal data we have stored about you and for what purpose. In addition, you may correct inaccurate data or demand the deletion of data the storage of which is impermissible or no longer required. We will be pleased to receive your information, wishes or ideas on data privacy.
