General Terms and Conditions for the 26. Fachgruppentagung Entwicklungspsychologie 2025

1. General Information

1.1. These General Terms and Conditions ("GTC") apply to participation and related ticket sales for EPSY 2025, organized by the Department of Developmental Psychology at Justus Liebig University Giessen. Deviating terms and conditions of the participant are not valid.

1.2. The organizer reserves the right to make changes and additions to these regulations. Any possible changes and additions will become effective upon publication on this website.

1.3. The offer is exclusively aimed at adults.

2. Registration and Conclusion of Contract

2.1. Registration for participation in the event is only possible through the conference management and ticketing platform Converia.

2.2. The organizer makes an offer for the conclusion of a sales contract with the information provided on the website. The participant accepts this offer for the conclusion of a sales contract by completing the ordering process and clicking the "Complete Registration" button in the final order screen. The effective acceptance of the offer by the participant requires that the participant has filled out all required fields (marked with "*") in the order screen and has accepted these GTC.

2.3. The contract for participation in the event is only concluded after the ticketing partner has confirmed the registration to the participants in writing via email. Changes and/or additions to the contract must be made in writing. This also applies to the cancellation of the written form clause.

2.4. The number of participants may be limited or available "by invitation only." Registrations will be considered in the order of receipt of payment. If participation is not possible due to oversubscription, you will be promptly notified.

3. Prices

3.1. The price stated in the participation certificate is the final price and is binding for the participant.

3.2. All prices include applicable sales tax, if required. Additional delivery and/or shipping costs do not apply unless explicitly stated.

3.3. If special prices for discounts (students, seniors, persons with disabilities, etc.) are offered, this will also be explicitly indicated. If no discounts are specified, none can be granted. The discount must be provided upon presentation of proper proof (student ID, ID card with age verification, disability ID in accordance with the Disability ID Ordinance). Proof must be provided before the start of the event. If proof cannot be provided, the participant must pay the difference between the full price and the discounted price at the beginning of the event in order to be entitled to entry.

4. Payment

4.1. Payment is made via the methods specified on the website. Any additional fees arising from this will be indicated separately. All prices and fees are due immediately upon conclusion of the contract and no later than the event date.

4.2. If payment by invoice is possible: If the participant does not pay within 14 days of receiving the invoice, the organizer may withdraw from the contract. If the organizer withdraws from the contract, the participant thereby loses their claim to participate in the event. Any fees arising from the transfer are borne by the participant.

4.3. If payment by direct debit is possible: When paying by direct debit, the participant will be prompted during the payment process to enter bank details (account holder, account number, bank code, bank institution). The stored bank account will be debited in the following working days for the amount of the ticket including possible shipping costs.

4.4. If payment by credit card is possible: When paying by credit card (MasterCard, Visa), the participant will be prompted during the payment process to enter credit card details. The corresponding credit card account will subsequently be charged for the amount of the ticket including possible shipping costs. Please note that the following usage purpose will appear on your credit card statement:

4.5. If a payment is reversed (e.g., due to insufficient funds in the specified account), the participant must compensate the organizer for any damage or expense resulting from the reversal. This includes bank fees as well as a processing fee of 10.00 euros per reversal for processing by the organizer. In the case of an unjustified chargeback of the credit card, processing costs of 50.00 euros will be charged. In the event of a reversal, the organizer is entitled to withdraw from the contract immediately. The participant thus loses their claim to participate in the booked event. Further claims of the organizer against the participants remain unaffected.

5. Right of Withdrawal

5.1. Withdrawal Instructions

++++++++++++++++++

Right of Withdrawal:

If the participant is a consumer within the meaning of § 13 BGB, they can withdraw their contractual declaration within 14 days without giving any reason in text form (e.g., letter, email). To do this, there is the option to send an email stating the ticket ID. Participants can use the following contact details:

Prof. Dr. Bianca Jovanovic apl.
Justus Liebig University Giessen
Otto-Behaghel-Str. 10 / F
35394 Giessen
Phone: 0641-9926004
Fax: 0641-9926079
Email: epsy-2025@uni-giessen.de

The period begins upon receipt of this instruction in text form, but not before the conclusion of the contract and also not before the fulfillment of the organizer's information obligations according to Art. 246 § 2 in conjunction with § 1 Abs. 1 and 2 EGBGB as well as the obligations under § 312g Abs. 1 Satz 1 BGB in conjunction with Art. 246 § 3 EGBGB. Timely sending of the withdrawal is sufficient to meet the withdrawal deadline.

Consequences of Withdrawal:

In the case of an effective withdrawal, both parties must return the services received and, if applicable, any benefits derived (e.g., interest) must be returned. If the participant cannot return the received service as well as benefits (e.g., usage advantages) in whole or in part, or only in a deteriorated condition, they must compensate the organizer for the value in that respect. The obligation to refund payments must be fulfilled within 30 days. The period begins for the participant with the sending of the withdrawal declaration and for the organizer with its receipt.

End of Withdrawal Instruction

++++++++++++++++++

5.2. The right of withdrawal expires prematurely if the organizer begins to provide services with the express consent of the participants before the end of the withdrawal period or if the participants initiate the provision of services themselves.

6. Changes, Withdrawal/Cancellation

6.1. For subsequent invoice corrections and rebookings, a processing fee of 20.00 euros will be charged by the organizer.

6.2. If the participant does not wish to attend the event, they must declare their withdrawal from the contract in writing or by email to the organizer.

a) In the case of withdrawal/cancellation up to 6 weeks before the start of the event, the participation fee will be refunded minus a processing fee of 10%.
b) In the case of withdrawal/cancellation up to 2 weeks before the start of the event, the participation fee will be refunded minus a processing fee of 50%.
c) In the case of withdrawal/cancellation less than 2 weeks before the start of the event, no refund will be made.

6.3. If the registered participant cannot attend the event for health reasons or due to an accident, the participant has the option to designate a replacement person for participation. The processing fee for rebooking amounts to 20.00 euros.

6.4. The participant is only granted a further right of cancellation for an important reason. In this case, no refund will be made. 6.5. The contracting party reserves the right to prove a lower expense.

7. Services

7.1. The scope of the contractual service within the respective event is determined by the respective information documents, any available registration forms, and the participation confirmation of the organizer.

7.2. If services are not provided in accordance with the contract, the participant is entitled to remedy. Defects must be reported immediately. Claims for a refund of the participation fee due to services that are obviously not provided in accordance with the contract must be made within 14 days after the conclusion of the event.

7.3. The organizer reserves the right to make short-term content changes to the event program as necessary and as long as the subject matter of the event is not restricted, as well as in exceptional cases to appoint a substitute speaker. Participants will be informed of any changes in a timely manner.

7.4. Travel, accommodation, and meals are not included in the event offering unless such services are explicitly listed in the event description. If a contracting party does not fully or partially make use of services offered in a proper manner, there is no entitlement to a refund of the participation fee.

7.5. There is no entitlement to the development of participant-specific solutions.

8. Cancellation of the Event / Date Changes

8.1. In case of insufficient participants and for other urgent reasons, the organizer can postpone, cancel, or merge the event with other events. This also applies to accompanying and evening programs.

8.2. In the event of cancellation of an event, the organizer will refund the payment made. The organizer may cancel the date particularly up to 10 days before the start of the event if the minimum number of participants stated in the event description is not reached. Shipping costs and other additional fees will only be refunded if the cancellation of the event is due to intent or gross negligence on the part of the organizer.

8.3. In the event of a date change, the participant is entitled to withdraw from the contract. The organizer commits to promptly inform the contracting parties at one of the addresses provided during bookings (by post, email, phone, etc.) at least 5 days before the original event date.

9. Liability

9.1. The organizer is only liable for damage that arises from injury to life, body, or health, as well as in cases of intent or gross negligence. The liability for indirect and consequential damages is excluded, unless otherwise required by law.

9.2. The organizer is not liable for damages caused by the participant. The organizer is not liable for lost luggage or valuables, nor for theft or damage.

10. Data Protection

10.1. Personal data is collected, processed, and used exclusively for the purpose of organizing the event. The personal data of participants will not be passed on to third parties without the explicit consent of the participant. Further information can be found in the organizer's data protection declaration, which can be viewed at [website].

11. Final Provisions

11.1. German law applies. The application of the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods is excluded.

11.2. The place of jurisdiction for all disputes arising from this contract is Giessen, provided the participant is a merchant or a legal entity under public law.

11.3. Should individual provisions of these GTC be wholly or partially invalid or void, the validity of the remaining provisions shall remain unaffected. In such a case, the parties undertake to replace the invalid provision with a valid provision that comes as close as possible to the economic purpose intended by the invalid provision.
