CALL FOR SESSIONS: Ad-hoc-Groups

The 28th Congress of the Austrian Association for Sociology (ÖGS) will take place from
June 30th to July 2nd, 2025, at the University of Graz, under the theme "The Climate of
Society." The ÖGS board warmly invites you to submit proposals for organizing an ad-hoc
group. Proposals must be submitted online via this homepage by December 23rd,
2024. Unfortunately, proposals submitted after this deadline cannot be considered..

Your proposal for an ad-hoc group should clearly address the following points:
• the specific relevance or timeliness of the topic and its connection to the congress
theme (link to theme paper),
• the methodological and theoretical approaches of the session or topic,
• the suitability of the planned format (e.g., presentations, panel discussion) in relation
to the session's 90-minute duration.
If you have already contacted potential speakers, please provide their names and planned
presentation topics. Listing speakers is encouraged but not required for approval. The
proposal must not exceed 3,000 characters.

Due to limited space at the University of Graz, only a certain number of ad-hoc groups
can be accepted for the congress. The ÖGS board will decide on the acceptance or
rejection of proposals by January 15th, 2025.

If accepted, titles of presentations and names of speakers, along with abstracts, must be
submitted by March 30th, 2025. To ensure diversity, each person may give a maximum of
two presentations throughout the congress. The role of session organizer is not affected
by this rule.

Ad-hoc groups will take place in several time slots between Monday, June 30th, 2025,
starting at approximately 1:00 PM, and Wednesday, July 2nd, 2025, ending at approximately
5:00 PM. Exact scheduling will be announced by the congress organizers in May 2025.
