Today, artificial intelligence touches almost every aspect of our lives and is increasingly shaping our society. It is used in business, science and culture. At the heart of modern AI are artificial neural networks, inspired by the structure of the human brain.
But how much does our knowledge of the brain influence the development of AI? Can artificial intelligence itself become a model for human thinking? And what role do supercomputers play in this? How similar can AI and computers become to the human brain?
The event continues the series of Science Evenings organized by the Hector Fellow Academy (HFA) - a young science academy for the promotion of interdisciplinary research in STEM, psychology and medicine. At the HFA Science Evening 2025, outstanding professors will shed light on current developments in the neuroscience, computer science and AI research. They will look at the opportunities and challenges of the future. The event will take place in Düsseldorf this year and will be broadcast live. The German author and philosopher Wolfram Eilenberger will moderate this year´s Science Evening.
