Sektion 6: Übersetzung(sunterricht) im Wandel

Mehr denn je sind wir umgeben von Übersetzungen, deren Qualität und Ursprung wir meist nicht einschätzen können. Im allgemeinsprachlichen und technischen Bereich kommt dabei zunehmend KI zum Einsatz. Die Sektion beschäftigt sich mit methodischen Fragen rund um den Übersetzungsunterricht und Übersetzung als Dienstleistung, insbesondere mit Hinblick auf den zunehmenden Gebrauch von KI-Tools in professionellen Übersetzungskontexten. Dabei sollen Fragen behandelt werden wie:
- Welche Rolle kann Übersetzungsunterricht in einer modernen Sprachausbildung spielen? Für welche Ausbildungsziele ist er sinnvoll? Sollte er auch Hilfsmittelkunde, den Umgang mit Übersetzungstools und Editing von KI-generierten Texten beinhalten?
- Welche Besonderheiten sind im Dienstleistungsbereich bei der Übersetzung von Fach- und Gebrauchstexten zu beachten? Welche Herausforderungen birgt die literarische Übersetzung?
- Ist die Prüfungsform der Hin- oder Herübersetzung ohne Hilfsmittel (wie etwa im bayer. Staatsexamen) noch sinnvoll? Könnte das Testziel der sprachlichen Präzision sinnvoll anderweitig erreicht werden?

Section 6: The changing face of translation (teaching)

More than ever, translations are ubiquitous, with us rarely able to truly assess their origin or quality. AI is increasingly being used, in general and technical contexts. This section will explore methodological issues relating to translation teaching and translation as a service, in particular in view of the increasing use of AI tools in professional translation contexts. We will explore questions such as:
- What role does translation have in modern language teaching? For which training objectives does it still make sense? Should teaching also cover translation aids, working with translation tools and post-editing AI-generated texts?
- Which particular features of translating specialist and consumer texts need to be taken into account by translation services? What are the challenges peculiar to literary translation?
- Does it still make sense to base examinations on translating into or out of the foreign language without aids (as is the case in the Bavarian State Examination)? Could the objective of linguistic accuracy viably be achieved in different ways?
