Musical Highlights at the Gala Dinner

Christoph Spengler is the conductor of the University Orchestra and the University Choir. He studied church music in Dusseldorf and works as church musician in Remscheid. He teaches choir leading at the university and pop piano, choir leading and orchestra conducting at the Evangelische Pop-Akademie Witten. He leads several choirs and orchestras and has conducted concerts in Germany, South Africa, Russia, Mexico, Oman and several other countries. In 2017, he received the medal of honor of the university of Wuppertal for his work with choir and orchestra.

Two ensembles present the sound of the University of Wuppertal. The choir is a pop choir, singing songs from different genres, from pop music to jazz, from musical to movie songs, from Latin to Blues. The orchestra also shows a big variety of styles, playing not only classical music, but also music from movies, musicals and jazz. Both ensembles are open for students and people working for the university. Singers or instrumentalists from outside the university are welcome, too. Both ensembles are as colorful as the life at our university.
